Why we are pursuing this
Older adults need reliable access to shopping, appointments, worship and social activities. These recurring destinations can support daytime service circuits between commute peaks.
What the comments tell us
We reviewed 283 retrieved comments and replies and selected 15 relevant entries. Self-described older adults and family members discuss independence, confidence, long-distance comfort and daily mobility. Ages and experiences are self-reported; the audience is not representative of Oakland and does not establish demand or willingness to pay.
What we are designing
Explore phone booking, recurring trip plans, clear pickup instructions and dependable returns. Coordinate with caregivers only with passenger consent. Determine boarding assistance, mobility-device needs and accessible transport alternatives before accepting a service obligation.
What comes next
Interview members and community partners about trip frequency, destinations, current spend and assistance needs. Measure completed trips, punctuality and member satisfaction. Driver assistance does not authorize a person who cannot safely supervise the vehicle to drive.
